For London residential contractors

Help progressing the quotation, from site information to client revisions.

A spreadsheet can arrive while the job is still stuck. Someone needs to resolve missing information, understand the site and keep the conversation moving when the client changes the brief.

Start with a conversation with Trails. Scope, fees and availability are confirmed individually.

Agree who progresses each stage

Drawing-based measurement and pricing is one service. Coordinating questions with the client and designer, understanding site constraints and supporting revisions is a broader role. We start by identifying which responsibilities you need help with, then explore whether suitable support is available.

Keep the knowledge with the conversation

Where broader support is agreed, continuity matters: the person preparing the estimate should be able to explain its assumptions and support the next discussion. Site attendance, client contact and revision work must be included explicitly in the scope, rather than assumed.

Illustrative example: extension now, loft later

Simply removing the loft from a price does not establish the cost of phasing. The team needs to consider enabling works, repeat mobilisation, access and finishes that could be disturbed later. The designer and engineer retain responsibility for design decisions; the contractor approves the build approach and commitments.

A useful outcome can be a pause

If the budget and scope cannot be reconciled, support should help reach that conclusion clearly. An agreed smaller scheme or a decision to wait can be more useful than another revision that nobody believes is achievable.

Questions before you get in touch

Will someone attend the site and speak to the client?

Those capabilities are assessed individually. A drawing-only estimating service is not presented as full quotation management. Any site attendance or client contact must be agreed before work begins.

Who approves the final quotation?

The contractor retains decisions about margin, risk, delivery capacity and final commitments. Technical design remains with the relevant designer or engineer.

A practical starting point

One job.
A clearer next step.

  1. Tell us where it is stuck

A waiting price, missing information or another round of revisions.

  2. Explore the support needed

We discuss which responsibilities you want help with and what stays with your team.

  3. Agree before committing

Any introduction, scope, fee and availability is confirmed with you first.

Discuss a live job

Tell us where the quotation is stuck. Trails will review your enquiry and contact you to explore suitable support.

We ask before sharing details with a partner. An enquiry does not book a service or subscribe you to updates. Please leave out client names and full site addresses.

Enquiries are held privately by Trails. For questions about your information, email hello@trytrails.co.uk.
